Note: Zanini de Zanine is the talented successor to his father, José Zanine Caldas, whose architectural and design career was honoured by an exhibition at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs, Paris.
Rio de Janeiro born in 1978, Zanini de Zanine trained under Sergio Rodriguez and his bold, muscular designs hewn from reclaimed solid wood, and with a lighter touch his metalwork, have won numerous awards globally, among them, the Ornare Concept in 2013, in São Paulo; the IF Awards, in Hannover, Germany, in 2012; Gold Idea Brazil in 2010 and the Young Talent award ARC DESIGN (Brazil) in 2009. Capellini invited him to collaborate in 2011, and he has additionally contributed to French Tolix, Poltrona Frau and Slamp, and the American Espasso, who welcomed Zanini de Zanine's particular raw energy, 'Contemporary Carpentry'.
